Biographical Sketch of David Leake

David Leake is a Professor of Computer Science in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at Indiana University. He received his PhD from Yale University in 1990. His research is in artificial intelligence and cognitive science, with areas including case-based reasoning, explanation, intelligent information systems, intelligent user interfaces, knowledge management, knowledge modeling, and introspective learning. He has authored/edited over 200 publications with an H index of 48, reflecting over 8,000 Google Scholar citations. He played a key role in development of the field of case-based reasoning and is a four-time winner of best paper awards at the International Conference on Case-Based Reasoning (ICCBR). He is Editor in Chief Emeritus of AI Magazine, the official magazine of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), after 17 years as Editor in Chief. In 2014 he received the AAAI Distinguished Service Award. From 2012-2021 he served as Executive Associate Dean of the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
